Focus of the technical unit
The focus of this technical unit is on accreditations in the areas of construction products, construction, fire protection and mining.
In this context, the unit offers accreditations of testing laboratories in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025, certification bodies for products, processes and services in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17065, inspection bodies in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17020, as well as certification bodies for persons in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17024 and certification bodies for management systems in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17021-1.
Construction products
The primary focus in the area of construction products is the accreditation of certification bodies for products, processes and services in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17065 and testing laboratories in accordance with DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025. This constitutes an essential prerequisite for the notification of these conformity assessment bodies under Regulation (EU) No 305/2011 (EU Construction Products Regulation).
Construction
In the area of construction, DAkkS accredits testing laboratories and inspection bodies (DIN EN ISO/IEC 17020) seeking recognition as external inspection bodies in the area of the German Landfill Ordinance, as well as testing laboratories and certification bodies for products, processes and services that carry out conformity assessment activities on the basis of private or statutory requirements and wish to demonstrate their competence for this purpose by means of national or international accreditation.
Fire protection
Because their results are used across disciplines to assess the fire protection properties of materials and buildings, the accreditation of fire testing bodies is extremely important.
Other areas
Other activities include the accreditation of conformity assessment bodies that issue certificates for sustainable construction and the accreditation of personnel certification bodies that offer technical expertise in the area of construction and fire protection.
This area covers for example the accreditation of conformity assessment bodies authorised to award the German federal government’s “Sustainable Building Quality Seal” guarantee mark. The “Sustainable Building Quality Seal” is a government seal of quality for buildings. A prerequisite for its award is evidence of fulfilment of general and special requirements for the technical, functional, environmental, socio-cultural and economic quality of buildings and for the quality of planning and construction processes on the basis of an independent audit by an accredited inspection body.
